Citizen Watch Company issued a press release today stating that both their Citizen and Bulova brands will not be showing at Baselworld this year. Citizen follows LVMH’s Bulgari and Seiko who both have also decided against this year’s version of what was once THE watch fair. Seiko stated three months ago that they would not be in attendance this year due to the lateness of this year’s Baselworld. Baselworld has pushed back their event over a month later from when it would normally be scheduled in hopes of lining up with what was previously known as SIHH and therefore attracting more visitors who would be able to visit both shows and not have to choose between the two. Bulgari’s much more recent withdrawal cited concerns over the Coronavirus. Citizen has stated that their withdrawal is due to the Coronavirus outbreak as well.
While both their Citizen and Bulova brands will be absent, other subsidiaries of the parent company such as Arnold & Son, Frédérique Constant, and Angelus will all be in attendance.
