Seiko has released a new limited edition watch in collaboration with Japanese sensation, Shohei Ohtani, pitcher and designated hitter for the LA Angels. Ohtani is recognised globally for his rarity as he’s one of the few players in all of baseball that’s not only a talented pitcher, but a dominant hitter as well. The SBDC191, as his watch will be known, will be part of Seiko’s Prospex line of watches and will include two references to the 2021 American League MVP.

The stainless steel case of the watch comes in at 40.5mm in diameter, 13.2mm in thickness, and has a water resistance of 200m. Seiko is using their Cal. 6R35 , a 3Hz automatic movement with 70 hours of power reserve, to power the watch. The Ohtani references present in the watch are fairly subtle… the dial itself has red accents that allude to his team, the LA Angels, and the clasp on the bracelet features an engraving of Ohtani’s signature. The watch also comes in a unique Shohei Ohtani box exclusive to this model.

Ohtani’s team, the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim (45-44), currently sits third in the AL West behind the division leaders, the Texas Rangers (51-37), and the second place Houston Astros (49-39). As WMWB is a Dallas-based organisation, we’re hoping things stay that way.

The Seiko Prospex Diver Shohei Ohtani Limited Edition will be priced at 187,000 JPY. The watch will be limited to 1,700 pieces and will be available for sale, exclusively in Japan, starting July 11th.
